He doesn't. Mankind does. It's Mankind's interpretation of religion that makes them fight. God never said anything about fighting other religions. That was mankind who did that. In fact, we believe God is trying to tell mankind to stop fighting, and see each other as one human family.

Warren Odess-Gillett interviews Mahnaz Javid. Mahnaz came to the US from Iran as an exchange high school student. After the Islamic revolution in Iran, Mahnaz ended up staying in the US. She is a co-founder of the educational service organization called the Mona Foundation, named after a Baha’i high school student by the name of Mona Mahmudnizhad, who was executed in Iran for her beliefs.

On Need Two Actors: Do not need to be believers, just convincing in their roles

Audition on Monday 9/27 at 10 AM (Charlotte)

Need two actors, Alex and Brian, who are in their 20's to 30's.
Must be able to memorize large amount of dialog.

One character was born a Jew and has converted to Christianity.
The other is a Baha'i.

Actors do not need to be believers, just convincing in their roles.
All dialog takes place in their kitchens over a cup of coffee,
so the sets could even be in your own home.

Not only would you be paid as talent but also compensated for site rental.

Location: Charlotte

We hosted tonight's fireside completely because our LDS missionary, Elder Mitchell, whom we have grown to love so very dearly, is slated to leave town for the next leg of his mission while we are out of town and he requested that we have some sort of Baha'i event before he leaves. The only way to fit it in was to have it on a weeknight, which is unusual for this community, but people rallied around and came anyway. We also had our friends Gail and Ned from the University, and a new friend, Susan, who had been spending lots of time with the Baha'i community in Ohio before moving here to Logan. All in all, thanks to Elder Mitchell's departure, we had a really well rounded group tonight.

What's all that jazz about the Baha'i Faith?

The religion of jazz musicians, any interesting takes on this one? I know Diz and James Moody are Bahai- an amaglam of the three monotheistic religions.

let's not take this into the forbidden zone, but the Baha'i Faith is not an amalgam of anything, but rather the most recent of the revealed religions. see www.bahai.org for more info.
in the jazz world, besides diz and james moody, singers flora purim, tierney sutton and vic damone, guitarist james finley, and composer/arranger russ garcia are Baha'is.

Javáhiru’l-Asrár (Arabic: جواهر الاسرار‎) or Gems of Divine Mysteries, is a book by Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith. ... Bahá'u'lláh himself states that he took "the opportunity provided by" the question "to elaborate on a number of subjects". The Introduction of the published English translation lists some of these topics, some of which are: "rejection of the Prophets of the past," "danger of a literal reading of scripture," "the meaning of the signs and portents of the Bible concerning the advent of the new Manifestation," "the continuity of divine revelation," "intimations of Bahá'u'lláh's approaching declaration," and the significance or meanings of terms such as "Day of Judgement" and "the Resurrection." The Tablet (as Bahá'u'lláh's works are often called) was written during his time in Baghdad (1853-1863) in Arabic, and was only recently translated into English, being published in 2002.

On Ballet at the Baha'is: Dress code will be a white leotard, pink tights and pink shoes for the 3

The blog for the Baha'i Faith of Kansas annoucnes today the start of ballet classes at the Baha'i Center. Ballet and Baha'i -- that has a nice ring to it. -gw

Ballet North has formalized plans to offer ballet classes to early childhood students from 3 years of age through 8 years of age in the Activity Room of the Center. The classes will be offered on Thursdays each week and are set to begin in November of 2009.
The 3 year old class will meet from 5:00 pm until 5:30 pm;
The 4-5 year old class will meet from 5:30 pm until 6:15 pm;
The 6-7 year old class will meet from 6:30 until 7:30 pm
Dress code will be a white leotard, pink tights and pink shoes for the 3 year olds; pink leotard, pink tights and pink shoes for the 4-5 year olds; royal blue leotard, pink tights and pink shoes for the 6-7 year olds.

On a Visit to Iran: They kiss and hug me in public

In an online article out today in Reason Online, the writer reminiscences on a visit to Iran in December 2005:

Over lunch, some female Baha'i relatives, poor and dignified, tell me about arrests and tortures, about how the government built over their cemetery, how their children are not allowed to attend the university, and how their property was confiscated. (One piece of grabbed land was turned, in that nasty, rub-your-nose-in-it habit of the Islamic Republic, into a police station.) During goodbyes, they kiss and hug me in public, illegality of unmarried male-female contact be damned.

Where can you find Baha'is who do music? Purusing the wall of the Baha'i Musicians Group International on Facebook, administered by Jarome Matthew, is one of many ways. There are 95 wall posts up with links to names both familiar and new to me. (Hey 95, a good round Baha'i number -- or should I say, nine-pointed?) With the emergence of all this do-it-yourself technology that makes making music to share online so much easier in this day (like blogging makes publishing on the 'net a breeeze), the universe of Baha'is who do music is surely in the many thousands. Hi, I’m not a bona fide musician but I enjoy listening to music and setting the prayers and Hidden Words to simple melodies. I believe that dabbling in songwriting and music, no matter how shoddy my attempts have been, has made me better at my vocation in science and engineering because it has taught me to look beyond the merely perfunctory towards that which inspires and uplifts hearts. wow....Wall Street.....one of our early believers Roy Wilhelm who had a coffee broker brokerage moved his business onto Wall Street around 1908. It was the illustrious inventor of the Dodge Motor Car and Bahai in NY Arthur P. Dodge that introduced Roy to the Bahai Faith in 1901 upon their return from pilgrimage to meet with Abdu'l Baha. It was later Roy who printed the famous little "Number 9" tiny teaching booklets for our foremost Hand of the Cause of God Martha Root. They are indeed tiny, but Martha needed a lot of them in her small suitcases....
